Elegant Four bedroomed house within easy reach of Eryri/Snowdonia.

Bryn Derwen is an impressive Victorian family holiday home in Snowdonia. It's beautiful inside and out, with the owners preserving features like the original tiled fireplace and choosing comfortably elegant furnishings that suit the age of the house and the demands of 21st Century expectations.

The detached property sleeps seven people in four bedrooms and is perfect for families. It enjoys a beautiful outlook towards the mountains from the house and the garden, providing the perfect place for you to relax and breathe in the fresh air.

Bryn Derwen, which translates from Welsh as "hill with the oak tree", is within walking distance of the village shop and Snowdonia Parc microbrewery pub in Waunfawr and roughly midway between Caernarfon and Snowdon.

Waunfawr is a friendly Welsh village beside the Afon Gwyrfai, which meanders through Snowdonia National Park between Llyn y Gader past Betws Garmon to Llyn Cwellyn before emptying into the Menai Strait. A multi-use path runs parallel to parts of the river with a popular walking and cycling route that follows a former railway line. It's a fantastic area for walking with a seasonal Sherpa bus running between the village and Caernarfon so you can explore more easily.

Most guests who choose Bryn Derwen do so for its proximity to Llanberris and the base of Snowdon. Whether you walk, mountain bike (certain hours apply), or take the Victorian train, reaching the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa, in Welsh) will be a highlight of your holiday. On a clear day, it feels like you can see the whole world from the top, but when it's cloudy, you'll be lucky to see more than a few feet! Check the weather before you go.

Snowdon isn't the only attraction that draws people here. Caernarfon Castle is one of the most spectacular medieval fortresses in the world. Built on the orders of Edward I to suppress the Welsh and fulfil his desire for complete dominance, it still inspires awe over 700 years later. Beaumaris and Conwy Castles are also part of Edward I's "Ring of Iron" and are around half an hour's drive from your cottage.

The Llyn Peninsula is also within easy reach for a day of walking, cycling, surfing and swimming, as is the pretty Italianate village of Portmeirion and neighbouring Porthmadog. Other activities include golf, zip wires, underground trampolining, and many more.

Bryn Derwen is available for holidays all year round.
